I am a National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach with ICF certification as a Relocation Coach. My journey began as a global nomad, a lifestyle I was born into and one that I wholeheartedly embraced, even raising my three sons within it. This lifestyle offers an open, unique, and adaptable perspective on the world. As a sociologist, I have explored various ways of living life, and I’ve found that in this nomadic existence, we all become somewhat like chameleons, adapting to different versions of ourselves in each new location.
For me, running has become an anchor in this ever-changing life, providing a sense of grounding amid the feeling of floating through different places. Combining Health & Wellness with Relocation Coaching felt like a natural progression. Wellness forms the foundation of a positive relocation journey, offering support when facing the inevitable challenges that come with moving to unfamiliar territory. By tending to what drives and fuels us, aligning our values with our goals, we can better manage these challenges and foster personal growth.
Through my personal and professional experiences, I have encountered two significant challenges in this lifestyle: navigating a shifting sense of identity and maintaining a sense of purpose. The disconnect between ‘different lives’ can make both aspects of life tricky. As a young adult I would refer to my ‘different lives’ as different drawers which I rarely revisited. Coping with grief, reinventing ourselves, and normalizing these processes can leave us feeling disoriented. Additionally, repatriation often proves more challenging than expatriation, as we may feel like foreigners in our supposed home.
Despite these challenges, I wouldn’t trade this lifestyle for any other. It’s an exciting and growth-oriented journey that keeps our perspectives open and worldly. While not all expatriate journeys are identical, there’s a good chance that I can relate to what you’re experiencing. I’m originally from Portugal and have lived in diverse locations, including Angola, different parts of the US, the UK, Brazil, and currently, New York. I’m fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Please feel free to schedule an introductory call, which entails no obligation but serves as an opportunity for us to gauge whether we’re a good fit for collaboration.
