Your relocation journey is truly exciting! But here’s the funny thing about excitement: whether it is positive or negative excitement, changes like this send a shock through our system that can be a bit disorienting for us. Physiologically speaking, our bodies were made to travel as far as our feet, the water (unaided by a boat), or an animal (like a horse) could take us. Here we are in the 21st century traversing oceans overnight and circling the planet in a matter of weeks.
The amount of gentleness and thoughtful care that we give our whole being, as we relocate, directly relates to how easily we land in our new homes. Don’t get me wrong, I have relocated the other way, where I threw caution to the wind, picked up and jumped the “pond”…it is really fun…and the stages of Culture Shock caught up with me. I learned my lesson and took the care-filled route for future moves and in the process brought my whole self to my next locations as well as a willingness to trust that I would find my place in my new home.
I had support through this journey. I worked with coaches and gave myself the opportunity to flow through the Culture Shock process rather than, for lack of a better word, shock my way through the transition. There really is nothing like showing up to a party alone, thinking you’re alone, only to realize that there is a hand waving to you from across the room and that hand is attached to an arm, a body, and a (would you believe it) familiar face! Your shoulders relax a little, you breathe a little easier, and the beginnings of a smile start to tease the corners of your mouth. I can be the familiar face greeting you through every part of your relocation journey as it unfolds and you find yourself encountering new circumstances.
Your decision to relocate is filled with unknowns, but you are equipped–otherwise life would not have lined you up for this opportunity. In our Pure Life Coaching work, we will find solutions to seemingly impossible obstacles, tease out wrinkles that may have come up in your process–no matter how small they may seem–, and will ensure that you land in your wholeness at your new home.
Why is this so important?
Because every part of your life is affected by your physical environment and my goal with every client is to make sure that they are so strongly in alignment with themselves that they can show up for their new positions, new relationships, and be able to support their family members through their transitional process. As the adage goes: “we can’t give away what we don’t have”. So let’s make sure that you land in full integrity with yourself so that you can show up in the uniquely inspiring way that is so you in your new position.

Be kind and gentle with yourself, and with your decision to relocate. Just because people do it and it is accepted as a normal thing to do, does not preclude such a process from careful, kind, and loving attention.
